A new crop of rising stars is ready to showcase their talent and creativity in Hollywood. Some of these young stars are already fan favorites, while others are just getting ready for the spotlight. Keep an eye out for the names on this list. They might be the next group of A-listers heading to our favorite movies and streaming series.
1. Jenna Ortega
At only 20 years old, Ortega has been stacking acting credits since she left the Disney show Stuck in the Middle. After a few more family movies, she shed her image as a child and took on roles in more adult shows like You and The Fallout. Her break-out role as Wednesday Addams in Tim Burton’s Netflix series Wednesday showcases her talents. Look for her in the rumored remake of Beetlejuice in the future.
2. Jharrel Jerome
Jerome burst onto the scene for his role in the 2016 heavily Oscar-nominated film Moonlight. The young actor followed that performance by winning an Emmy for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series for his role in When They See Us. As Korey Wise, Jerome nails his performance of a man falsely accused of murder. Like the rest of Hollywood, I’m looking forward to following his promising career.
3. Amandla Stenberg
You might remember Amandla as Rue, the young girl acting alongside Jennifer Lawrence in The Hunger Games. Now, a 25-year-old woman, she’s making her moves in Hollywood. After being listed as an Influential Teen by Time Magazine, she caught critics’ eyes in Everything, Everything. Her biggest role was in the critically acclaimed film The Hate U Give, which earned her an NCAAP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Motion Film.
4. Lucas Hedges
At only 27 years of age, Hedges has already worked with some of Hollywood’s biggest directors, including Wes Anderson and Kenneth Lonergan. His role in the 2016 film Manchester by the Sea put Hedges’s name on the map and earned him his first Oscar nomination. He has gone on to do some theatre work, but movie lovers are looking forward to what this talented actor does next.
5. Anya Taylor-Joy
It’s hard to believe how many film roles this young actress has already had. At only 27, she has worked with M. Night Shyamalan in Split and Glass. Most will probably recognize her from her role in the Netflix series The Queen’s Gambit. Anya isn’t going anywhere, and her career looks promising since she is slated to star in the upcoming remake of the Mad Max franchise.
6. Ashton Sanders
Sanders has shown his versatility in his young career in Hollywood. Getting his start in the hit movie Moonlight, he has gone on to portray hip-hop legend RZA, one of the founding members of Wu-Tang Clan. His next musical role will be playing Bobby Brown in I Wanna Dance With Somebody, a biopic about singer Whitney Houston.
7. Sydney Sweeny
Sweeny has barely dipped her toes in acting and has already been a part of two of the biggest shows of the past few years. She portrays a teenager on vacation in the first season of The White Lotus and doubles down in the teen drama Euphoria. Her two Emmy nominations are just the beginning for this budding star.
8. Shameik Moore
When a young actor gets his first significant role as a voice actor in Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, that might be the quickest track to stardom. Moore has shown he is more than just a voice as a teen in the coming-of-age movie Dope. He plays the hip-hop artist Raekwon in Wu-Tang: an American Saga to showcase his talent and versatility further.
9. Victoria Pedretti
Remember this actress’s name because she is bound for stardom. After starring in the chilling series The Haunting of Hill House and the spin-off The Haunting of Bly Manor, she followed it up in Netflix’s hit, You. Big things are ahead for this talented actress, who has shown she has a knack for horror.
10. Kelvin Harrison Jr.
Kelvin cut his teeth as an actor in small roles in Ender’s Game and 12 Years a Slave. Since then, he has evolved and grown into a future star. Look for him playing musical legend B.B. King in Elvis (2022) and acting alongside Peter Dinklage in Cyrano. Be sure to listen for his voice as he plays Scar in the upcoming Lion King saga.
11. Phoebe Dynevor
When the pandemic hit in 2020, many people binge-watched several T.V. series. Fans of the Netflix romance drama Bridgerton were introduced to Phoebe Dynevor. Her performance earned many award nominations, including a Screen Actors Guild Award and Teen Choice Award. Something tells me we will see much more of this actress.
12. Lewis Pullman
Lewis, the son of veteran actor Bill Pullman, follows in his father’s footsteps. He’s carving out a name for himself, landing a role in the streaming series Outer Range, starring alongside Josh Brolin. His credits include Bad Times at El Royale and Top Gun: Maverick. If he has his dad’s genes, he’s destined for a long career in Hollywood.
13. Kiernan Shipka
Fans of the hit television series Mad Men might remember Shipka for her role as Sally Draper. Since then, she has pursued a promising career in Hollywood. Her stock is rising as she has landed regular roles in feature films, including Wildflower and the T.V. series Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Look for her to continue her promising career in the years ahead.
14. Joel Kim Booster
Booster’s name is becoming more popular as a writer and actor. He’s written for shows including Big Mouth, Shrill, Search Party, and Sunnyside. He also wrote, produced, and starred in the Hulu movie Fire Island. Look for him in his latest role alongside SNL alum Maya Rudolph in Loot on Apple T.V.
15. Florence Pugh
Pugh is most likely already on your radar as a rising star, but how high she rises is the real question. At only 28 years old, she’s had roles in Midsommar, Black Widow, and Little Women, the last earning her an Oscar nomination. Her next big hit was the 2023 historical piece Oppenheimer, arguably the year’s biggest movie. What’s next for the young actress? We’ll have to wait and see.
