Tricks for difficult cleaning at home

Sometimes we face certain messes at home that are difficult to clean. Below I propose a list of products that you could have on hand with which you would solve some of these problems, but almost all of them must be used with caution, since the toxicity of some requires the use of gloves and even a mouth guard.

Despite their usefulness, it is good to keep these products in a safe place and away from children to avoid accidents that could be fatal.

Tricks for tough cleanups

Ammonia: This substance with a characteristic and pungent odor is used for deep cleaning of glass, tiles and to remove grease stains from upholstery. Rub the surface you want to clean with a cloth dampened in a solution of three parts ammonia and one part water and you’ll be amazed at the results.

Hydrogen Peroxide: It is used to clean marble and to remove ink stains on wood by rubbing surfaces with a cloth dipped in this substance diluted in water. It also serves to make vegetable fiber furniture whiter, but in this case use a cloth moistened with pure hydrogen peroxide.

Alcohol: It is useful for removing lipstick, marker and grass stains from upholstery. The procedure is to surround the stain with talcum powder and then wet it with alcohol reduced in one part of water for every three of the volatile substance. In the case of trying to clean glass and tiles, mix it with glass cleaner and water in equal parts.

Bicarbonate: It is very effective in whitening yellow stains that appear on white tablecloths. To do this, dissolve three tablespoons of baking soda in a liter of hot water, leave the tablecloth or napkin soaking for half an hour and you will see the result. Mixed dry with laundry detergent and talcum powder, it helps to clean upholstery and absorbs grease stains.

Lemon: The pure juice of this citrus is used to remove recent rust stains on fabrics, ceramic floors and toilets. It also whitens yellow and ink stains and brightens metals.

Salt: The crystals of this essential ingredient in any kitchen are used to prevent blockages in sinks and bad odours. If you dissolve it in water and let the solution act for at least an hour, you will be able to whiten the net curtains.

Vinegar: If you use it hot, it will serve to polish the toilets, remove the verdigris from metals, revive the color of textiles and prevent clothes from fading. It’s good for cleaning wood and terrazzo and will also help unclog your shower if you soak it overnight in a 50/50 solution of water and vinegar.
