Like high-intensity interval training (HIIT), PHA focuses on the entire body, rotating from upper to core to lower body movements. Unlike the recent trend of HIIT exercises, low impact focuses on easy body movements people can do in high-volume reps. This style attracts participants at all fitness levels. Low-impact activities are easier on the joints and provide a simple foundation for gradually building up intensity and body movements for those getting into fitness programs.
5. Mental Wellness

The focus on mental health has become more pronounced in the past decade, but the pandemic really kicked it up a notch. More mental health resources are available, and we look for that trend to continue in 2024. Companies promote recovery retreats, meditation sessions, personal time, and uninterrupted weekends. When companies emphasize mental recovery, it signifies a good relationship between employees and employers.
6. Sound Bathing

Sound bathing for deeper meditation has become more popular in recent years. This therapy sparks creativity by omitting frequencies that hit the alpha brainwaves while stimulating the theta brainwaves that help with memory and learning. Expect sound baths to be offered in local yoga and relaxation studios.
7. Ashwagandha

Ashwagandha is an evergreen shrub that grows in Asia and Africa and has been used for centuries to treat stress. It’s slowly becoming a staple in American herbal supplements. These herbs have been shown to reduce chronic inflammation, improve sleep, and enhance overall mood and attitude. Ashwagandha could become a household name in the coming years.
8. The Minimalist Mindset

Health and beauty companies are working on omitting chemicals and additives from their products. Consumers focus on minimalism and look for labels with fewer ingredients and science-backed, cleaner alternatives. Expect a rise in areas like psychodermatology and neurocosmetics, which focus on the connection between the skin and the brain.

The coffee market isn’t going anywhere in 2024, but people are more conscious of how they get their caffeine fix. According to Whole Foods, caffeine addicts are looking for cleaner beverages made with probiotics and medicinal mushrooms. Next time you visit a Starbucks, ask for a shot of mushrooms and see what kind of look you get from the barista.
10. Telehealth and AI

With artificial intelligence becoming part of our daily lives, AI is also becoming a popular resource in health facilities. Look for AI preventive services to become more common during basic check-ups. AI virtual check-ins may replace brief doctor visits. For minor ailments, these AI check-ins will limit office visits and their associated costs.

The emphasis on sleep health has been growing in recent years. More and more adults complain about getting quality sleep. Virtual fitness got more popular when we were stuck at home during the pandemic, and don’t expect it to fade in 2024. Dozens of home fitness apps emerged in the past few years, and more people are choosing at-home workouts over a traditional gym membership. A full-body workout using minimal equipment can be done in your home, and I don’t see that trend disappearing soon.
13. Mushrooms as Medicine

Look for more medicinal mushrooms to be on the menu in 2024. The fungi can be used in many recipes besides coffee. Recently, mushrooms have been found to have antioxidant, anticancer, antidiabetic, antiallergic, immunomodulating, cardiovascular protector, anticholesterolemic, antiviral, antibacterial, and antiparasitic properties. That’s a lot of “anti’s,” meaning mushrooms are good for you.
14. Fasting

Intermittent fasting can be a great tool for weight loss, and that trend will probably grow in 2024. A new wave of apps and resources are available to help those looking to try fasting for weight loss. The market has seen a rise in fasting teas and kits with various supplements and vitamins to help you get through a fasting session. These apps take the guessing game out of fasting, making it more approachable and easier.

Wearable devices are not new to fitness enthusiasts. However, more and more people are buying these products. According to Statista, consumers will spend over $23 billion on these devices by 2026, and projections show they will continue to sell in the coming years. That means more and more non-fitness buffs are buying these products as they try to take control of their health.
