Consider that thousands upon thousands of people, if not millions, commute to work for over an hour. So I would say that a 30-minute drive is indeed okay.

How Far Should You Live From Work?
The acceptable distance to travel to work is a personal preference. If your commute to work does not regularly interfere with your life, then you live within a reasonable distance from your workplace; I would love to live within a 15 to 20-minute walk from my workplace. A brief walk before work gives me the time to wake up and gets my creative juices flowing. I can listen to a podcast or an audiobook as I walk. Or I can think about my work projects – I am an avid practitioner of visualization and mindfulness.
But that’s just me. You might enjoy driving and don’t mind doing it daily to get to work. Or perhaps you like to use public transportation. Maybe you want to get comfortable on the bus or the subway and use the time to read or study. A reasonable commute is the one that you enjoy!
How Far Can an Employer Make You Travel to Work?
The distance from your home to your workplace does not concern your employer. When you start a job that requires your physical presence at the workplace, getting to the said workplace is entirely your responsibility. If your commute to work becomes unbearable, talk to your employer about the possibility of a work-from-home or hybrid work schedule.
Protip: You can bargain with your employer to arrange a home office situation for yourself. Ask them for a trial period of one or two weeks to show that you can be just as productive working from home. This way, they will be more willing to let you work from home.

Long commutes are linked to increased stress and tiredness. Plus, there are other adverse effects, such as having less time for health-promoting activities such as exercising.
According to this Swedish study of over 21,000 people, long commutes to work are indeed associated with adverse health effects. Another British survey of over 34,000 people found a link between long commutes and reduced productivity.
