To maintain a facade, we often don’t say everything out loud. We’re just so afraid of what people will say and how they’ll perceive us if we say what’s happening in our minds. Since everyone experiences similar things, putting them out in the open can be mutually beneficial. Here are silent confessions, ten unspoken things people hesitate to admit publicly.

Debt

Living in this economy is not easy, so naturally, many people are knee-deep in debt, trying to stay afloat. No one wants to talk about it because it will make them seem inadequate, but it’s not about whether you can earn money. It’s simply about rising inflation rates pushing people below the poverty line. Try talking about it, and you’ll find you’re not alone in your struggle.

Hemorrhoids

It can be pretty embarrassing to admit that you’re suffering from hemorrhoids, and no one wants to be the center of mockery. However, it is more common than you think. This is especially true for people with IBS or other stomach-related problems as they’re sitting on the toilet for a much longer time. In this situation, it’s normal for the blood vessels around your rectum to get inflamed. Just seek help; your doctor won’t judge.

Clothing That’s a Bit Too Tight

Body dysmorphia plagues the lives of many as it sinks its claws into your mind, making you doubt your physical appearance. So what, you’ve gained a couple of pounds? Your body will constantly be changing, and expecting everything to fit perfectly all the time is unrealistic and unfair to yourself.

The Sauce Drawer

Have you ever been to a restaurant and loaded your bag with extra packets of ketchup, mustard, hot sauce, ranch, etc? Well, don’t worry because everyone is secretly doing the same thing. Many people feel weird whipping out these packets in front of their guests, but the fact is, it’s not stealing if it’s available for free, right?

Loneliness

I’ll let you in on a little secret today: loneliness is one of the biggest problems nearly everyone faces growing up. You no longer get to interact with your mates daily because life gets hectic, leading to the nagging feeling of being alone. Admitting that you need connections can be daunting and is no easy feat.

Herpes

When it comes to herpes, the stigma is worse than the symptoms themselves. STDs are often not considered valid diseases because of how they’re transmitted. This causes people to suffer in silence as the problem gradually worsens. If only we stopped shaming people, maybe it would be easier for them to speak up about it.

Bad Singing Skills

Shying away from karaoke and being unable to scream your lungs out to the latest pop hits is a sad ordeal because it’s not like you don’t want to do it, but you’re just afraid of what others might think.

Being a harmonious singer isn’t something everyone can be, but if you’re letting your inadequate notes stop you from having a blast, you might want to reconsider your stance.

Phone Dependency

This list wouldn’t be complete if we didn’t talk about how dependent we are on technology. Without our phones, we can’t contact anyone, we can’t wake up in the morning, and it seems like we can’t even breathe. But, when you confront someone who is constantly using their phones, they never acknowledge just how much they need it to function.

Insecurities

Insecurities come in all forms, whether financial, physical, or social, and they’re some of the hardest things to verbalize. Admitting your insecurities publicly is a giant leap; you don’t need to do it with everyone. Finding a safe space or trying therapy might be the way to do it.

Jealousy

We’re so opposed to the concept of jealousy because we’ve been taught that it can only be a red flag and nothing else. But that’s far from the truth. The fact is that everyone, at some point in their lives, experiences this emotion. It doesn’t have to be rational to acknowledge it because without doing that, you will never be able to fix it.
