Trends come and go as generations are replaced. Recently, the internet has been witnessing an exchange between the millennial and Gen Z cultures. While exceptions exist, here are twelve millennial things that Gen Z wants to eliminate.
1. Beating That Full Face

Come aboard the world of YouTube “beauty gurus” from the 2010s that brought about a cosmetic revolution. From slick, pencil-thin, drawn-on brows to sculptured faces lined with layers of contour, millennial beauty standards don’t settle well with Gen Z, who embrace the natural and laid-back look.
2. Avocado Toast Apocalypse

The newer folks aren’t having any of that avocado toast or deconstructed salad for food. Gen Z thinks these meals are overrated, expensive, and not tasty. Why not shop at your local farmers market if you like healthy eating?
3. Self-Deprecating Humor

Gen Z dislikes the classic self-defeating humor at the heart of millennial culture. As Gen Z takes control, memes and comedy morph into hyperbole and something incredibly absurd that is funny only due to its disorienting nature. Instead of making yourself or others the subject of deprecation, humor is now evolving to be inclusive and symbolic.
4. Dying Dreams

Many millennials have abandoned their dream jobs for something concrete and financially stable. However, as time has passed, many regret this decision as they are on the brink of burnout and nowhere near the financial status they had hoped to acquire.
5. Cutting Cables

Cable television is dying, and Gen Z couldn’t be happier. With countless streaming services at your disposal, cable TV seems obsolete and unreasonably expensive. Besides, the content isn’t worth the money anyway.
6. Cringe Culture

Cringing at everything in existence peaked with millennials taking hold of the internet. As the newer generations embrace niches of all sorts, hating on harmless interests is becoming less and less popular. Why hate if something makes a person happy and does not hurt anyone?
7. Hating Your Kids

Millennials are perpetually exhausted, which shows in their mentality toward their kids. While the struggles of parenting are excruciating, it is indeed a choice. If one isn’t ready for such responsibility, it’s better to back off than to be full of spite.
8. “I’m Better Than You”

Most millennials don’t even try to conceal their hate towards other generations. Pretending to know better than Gen Z and blaming the boomers for everything has led to a toxic cycle of hatred. Ironically, millennials have become just like boomers in terms of disapproving of younger folks.
9. Organic vs. Natural

The millennial craze with ‘organic’ and ‘natural’ products seems unfounded and necessary. The terms are practically the same, with only minor differences. It’s safe to say that many millennials have fallen prey to false advertisements.
10. College: The Obvious Next Step

It is often assumed that going to university right after high school is the sane thing to do. However, it’s merely a norm and not the only way of pursuing education. Having a timeline that’s comfortable for you is what matters. Hopping into the race of going to college only to end up in debt isn’t the most exciting thing.
11. Liking Coffee: Not a Trait

Millennials aren’t shy about their love for caffeinated drinks, but unfortunately, this liking has become a personality trait for many. Trust me, friends; you can enjoy coffee without labeling yourself as a “coffee lover” in your social media bio.
12. Food Feud: Pineapple Pizzas and Bacon

Gen Z is unsure of bacon as the supreme food, as often touted by millennials. Many think it tastes horrid. Conversely, the millennial hate of pineapple on pizza seems an overreaction. It doesn’t even taste that bad!
