Inflation has raised prices on most food items, from grocery stores to restaurants. Food from chain restaurants is quick, convenient, and delicious. Plus, almost everyone enjoys eating out occasionally.

However, with increasing prices, takeout or a meal out may not always be within your budget. So, what are we to do if we want to have a meal out and not pay exorbitant prices? To help you get the most bang for your buck, we’ve compiled a list of 15 secret menu hacks at popular chain restaurants.

Some may not be in your area, while others are national chains and easy to find.

We’ve given specific menu recommendations for each location. We’re confident you’ll find one of these places near you and have the opportunity to enjoy an inexpensive meal out.

Rodeo Burger – Burger King

You can’t just order a Rodeo Burger because Burger King regularly puts it on the menu for a limited time. But if you want one when it’s not available, ask for a Double Whopper with bacon, BBQ sauce, and onion rings.

Frings – Burger King

Want fries and onion rings but don’t want to pay for two sides? Ask for Frings, and you’ll get an equal share of both as one side.

Nachos – Chipotle

If you want Nachos at Chipotle, you will have to assemble them yourself, but they are worth the effort. Order a burrito bowl with your choice of meat and beans, grilled fajita veggies, corn, cheese, guacamole, and your favorite salsa. Ask for the ingredients on the side. The last thing to order is a side of chips. Put it all together, and you’ve got some delicious nachos.

Spicy Char – Chick-fil-A

Not all restaurant enthusiasts know this secret, but many do and love it. A Spicy Char replaces the charbroiled chicken patty for a spicy patty. It’s tossed in the same spices as the fried patty but has no breading. It’s a great way to get the spicy flavor you love without the breading.

Patty Melt – Five Guys

Order a grilled cheese and as many other ingredients and patties as you’d like. To make it a true patty melt, add grilled onions and mushrooms. Five Guys invert the hamburger buns and grill them in butter, giving the bread a crunchy texture.

Tomato Wrap – In-N-Out

The tomato wrap is like a lettuce wrap. But instead of iceberg lettuce, which has no flavor and falls apart, this burger uses delicious tomatoes instead of a bun.

Animal Style Burger – In-N-Out

This burger includes mustard-grilled patties, double cheese, extra special sauce, grilled onions, tomatoes, pickles, lettuce and chopped chiles. You can actually add chopped chiles to any menu item.

Animal Style Fries – In-N-Out

A favorite among regulars, the Animal Style Fries includes fries topped with melted American cheese, special sauce, and grilled onions. You can also add chopped chiles for some extra zing.

The Barnyard Burger – Wendy’s

The Wendy’s Barnyard Burger is a Dave’s single with added bacon and a fried chicken filet. If you want it a little spicy, add the spicy chicken filet.

The Meat Cube – Wendy’s

You can buy single, double, and triple cheeseburgers from Wendy’s. But you can also add as many extra patties as you want. You officially have the Meat Cube if you order a cheeseburger with four patties.

The Quesarito – Taco Bell

Taco Bell occasionally adds the Quesarito to its menu as a special item. But if you want one when it’s not officially available, simply order a Beefy 5-Layer Burrito. Ask to substitute beans for rice and add chipotle sauce. Then, ask for it grilled.

Bobs – Raising Cane’s

If you ask for a BOBS, you’ll get a Raising Cane’s Texas Toast grilled and buttered on both sides instead of one. BOBS literally stands for buttered on both sides.

The Land, Sea, and Air Burger – McDonald’s

This sandwich combines a Big Mac, a McChicken, and a fried Filet-O-Fish. You can ask for this by name at some restaurants, and they’ll know what you’re talking about. However, you may have to assemble it yourself.

Hashbrown McMuffin – McDonald’s

This is another secret menu item you’ll have to self-assemble, but it’s totally worth it. Ask for a McMuffin and hash browns. Then add the hash browns to the sandwich for a more salty, crunchy McMuffin.

Free Donuts – Krispy Kreme

If you have a child or younger sibling, simply take them and their report card to Krispy Kreme for some free donuts. They’ll get one for every A on their report card, up to a maximum of 6.
