The average price of a new car in January 2024 was $47,401. While car prices are decreasing, very few people can comfortably afford a nearly $50,000 car. I love used cars, but you have less expensive options if you’re in the market for a brand-new 2024 vehicle. Some cars are even selling for less than $20,000.
To find the cheapest cars available in 2024, I consulted an updated article from U.S. News ranking new cars by price. The vehicles chosen for this list are all under $25,000.
Here are the cars I found to be the 12 cheapest new cars of 2024. If you recently purchased something in that price range that is not on the list, let us know what car you bought.
2024 Nissan Versa

Starting our list is one of the cheapest new cars I’ve ever seen listed. You can buy the 2024 Nissan Versa for way under $20,000. The starting price of this new and shiny vehicle is $16,390.
Although a budget-friendly car, it has modern features, including a seven-inch touch screen. Another great feature is the roomy trunk.
2024 Mitsubishi Mirage

This next budget-friendly new car is only slightly more expensive than the previous one. The 2024 Mitsubishi Mirage starts at $16,695. While it isn’t the most luxurious vehicle, it’s worth the money. It takes you from point A to point B safely.
Some of the more modern features of this car include a touchscreen, Bluetooth, and voice recognition.
2024 Hyundai Venue

Truthfully, I’m not very particular about cars. I’m happy as long as they take me from place to place and last a few years. If this is what you’re looking for while staying on a budget, consider the 2024 Hyundai Venue, which has a starting price of $19,900.
Like the other vehicles, this one includes a touch screen. It is comfortable, straightforward, and affordable for a new vehicle.
2024 Kia Forte

U.S. News reports the 2024 Kia Forte starting price at just slightly under $20,000 ($19,990). While Kia gets a bad rep, I’ll always be a Kia girl. The vehicle works, has a small and quiet engine, and good fuel.
Like most modern vehicles, the 2024 Kia Forte has a touchscreen and Bluetooth capabilities. It also has rearview mirror parking guidance for reversing in tight spots.
2024 Kia Soul

Many people don’t want anything to do with Kia Souls, thanks to social media posts about the Kia boys. I’m biased, though, because I absolutely love them. These small and effective box cars last for years and are perfect for short commutes.
The 2024 edition starts at $20,190. While a smaller vehicle, the inside is quite spacious.
2024 Chevrolet Trax

I’m not gonna lie. I was surprised to see a Chevrolet vehicle on this list. They are typically priced a lot higher, yet the 2024 Chevrolet Trax starts at $20,400.
It’s a comfy, stylish, and smooth-driving car. Like the Kia Soul, it’s a smaller vehicle with plenty of room.
2024 Nissan Sentra

The 2024 Nissan Sentra starts at a really affordable price for new vehicles, $20,890. The car is stylish and looks almost luxurious, yet the price tag isn’t too high.
With this vehicle, you can expect 149 horsepower and the option to sync with the MyNISSAN App and Apple CarPlay.
2024 Nissan Kicks

Another Nissan makes our list. The 2024 Nissan Kicks is sleek, powerful, and also quiet. It’s a comfortable vehicle perfect for driving in cities.
According to U.S. News, while the vehicle works, it does have a weak engine. Still, it’ll take you where you need to go for the small starting price of $21,050.
2024 Volkswagen Jetta

The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta is a beautiful vehicle at an unbeatable price. The starting price for this car is $21,435. Truthfully, you don’t need to add a lot of extras. The vehicle is sleek and works effectively.
For a small car, there is plenty of space. The vehicle also has good gas mileage and plenty of helpful features like blind-spot monitoring.
2024 Hyundai Elantra

Interestingly, many small and compact cars are on our list. They seem to be the most affordable new vehicles of 2024. The 2024 Hyundai Elantra is no exception. It’s an excellent budget-friendly choice for working individuals or small families.
The 2024 Hyundai Elantra starts at $21,625. It features a clear touchscreen and wireless Android Auto.
2024 Toyota Corolla

One of my favorite brands, the Toyota Corolla, is nearing the end of our list. I owned a 2001 Corolla for five years, and it was still kicking.
The new 2024 Toyota Corolla is set at a steal of a price and is probably a lot better than the one I had before. The starting price is $22,050.
2024 Buick Envista

Last but not least is the 2024 Buick Envista. This beautifully designed car starts at $22,400. It’s smooth to drive and comes with an even larger touchscreen than the other vehicles on our list (11 inches).
The spacious interior is a bonus for the price. Also included in this model is wireless Apple CarPlay.
The Cheapest Cars With Modern Conveniences

Usually, when we’re listing cheap items, it’s a list of items worth avoiding. But in this case, modern technological advances have opened many opportunities for automakers to create affordable commuter cars that beat the Kelly Blue Book average car price for 2024 by nearly half. So before you sink too much money into one of the worst depreciating assets, ask yourself if the ten-way adjustable leather seat is really worth the investment.
15 Most Comfortable Cars for Tall Drivers

As someone of above-average height, I can tell you that driving a compact car is not only uncomfortable, but it’s also always the safest. It makes blind spots more common, making it hard to see streetlights without disjointing my neck. Car shopping has always been a hassle, and I wish I had this information before I started test-driving multiple cars. These are some of the best vehicles for those taller than their fellow drivers.

16 Things That Are So Expensive That People Now Do Without

The cost of living in the United States has skyrocketed in the last four years. So, what happens when the cost of living goes up? We stop buying certain things. I can think of many items and luxuries I’ve let go of because they’ve gotten so expensive.
Honestly, with the increasing prices, it’s not worth it. Maybe you’re experiencing the same dilemma. It’s hard to decide how to buy the things we need without breaking the bank. To help with those tough decisions, we curated these things based on luxuries and wants instead of needs.
Some may be more difficult than others to let go. However, in the end, we think it makes sense. What about you?
